Nintendo Wii. Is it Still Worth The Money in 2015/2016?

Nintendo Wii. Is it Still Worth The Money in 2015/2016?

Wow I feel so old now.
Remember that thing, the um... Nintendo Revolution?
I mean the evil thing that would stay on standby and watch you and your family late at night as you watched movies...

Oh, uh.. I mean the Nintendo Wii..

You found yours packed away in your closet under piles of clothes didn't you? And you're wondering if it's still a console that is worth setting up..

OR

You found one at the flea market for $30-40 and you're wondering "Should I buy this?"

The answer is up to you ultimately, but I will help you find your answer.

The Games

First off, the First party games were AMAZING, with these titles especially:

New Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Donkey Kong Country Returns

And then various third party games made it worth while too, even with some AAA experiences on the Wii, Unlike the WiiU.

Sonic Colors was one of those third party games that only showed up on Nintendo.

Softmodding your Wii!
This started off with the whole Twilight hack (Zelda Game..) and then got bannerbomb, letterbomb, and other exploits.

Through this you could essentially get all of the updated software you needed without updating your firmware/dashboard.

You were also able to use the homebrew channel for Homebrew apps, and playing "Backups" of your favorite games, Along with also Emulating other consoles/handheld devices.

Get Some New Gear

You should always feel like renewing, or finding a new found love for something you own, With new gear you can do just that, with some crazy custom Wiimotes.

And then, the Pro Classic Controller.

You could also use a Gamecube controller instead!
But having the Classic Pro or Gamecube controller made it worthwhile to play some of your favorite Emulated or Virtual Console games! Which is also a whole other category in itself.

With Virtual Console games you were able to get the good ol' games you grew up on, like the Super Mario Bros. original, 2, 3, Sonic 1, 2, 3, and Knuckles.

Ditch the Composite/AV cables and get yourself some Component for the Wii!
Component actually has the ability to push out 1080P HD and then some, but thats for other gaming consoles (like Xbox 360, and PS3.)
For your HD TV make sure you set your Wii up for 480P this will also enable progressive scan for your Gamecube games, and they will look so much better, Trust me!

All in all, Personally I think the Wii is still worth the money, especially because I love the N64, SNES and NES Legend of Zelda games, and also love the Sims Bustin out for Gameboy advanced, as well as pokemon for the GBA which I am able to play all right from my living room television!

Ryzen 7 1800X Overview, 1 Week in

Ryzen 7 1800X Overview, 1 Week in Ryzen 7 1800X Overview, 1 Week in The Ryzen family of AMD's processors are here, and they're great so far. So I got my hands on one finally, so this is my Ryzen 7 1800X Overview, 1 Week in. First Glance This is great, AMD has finally phased out the FM2 and AMD3 sockets! It has been WAY overdue, and finally a new board and alignment has hit the market. What this means is, there can be more transistors, and components put onto the chip, which means in return, better performance. It looks beautiful, in terms of it being just a component for a computer, which is just basically a cluster of a lot of components together, as one big machine!  Specs The Ryzen 7 1800X comes stock with the core clock at 3.7GHz with 8 Cores, and 16 Threads. Also including 16MB of L3 Smart Cache. The core clock can also be turbo up to 4.0GHz with an unlocked motherboard. So far so good.  Stock Performance With Cinebench R15 I got a nice score of 1

Playing with the Galaxy S2 SGH-I777

Playing with the Galaxy S2 SGH-I777   I had a generous person just give me a couple of Galaxy S2's and S3's, However I took immediate interest in the Galaxy S2's, and made one good one out of all the parts. The phone was still a virgin, and still on Gingerbread, thats what interested me so much about it, however that did not last very long. I updated it to the 4.1.2, rooted, and installed Carbon ROM. Very smooth, I could safely say I would rock this phone as a daily driver, if I did not have a newer phone. Is it sad that this phone is rather aging, but I still dig the design? I miss the full set of buttons on the bottom as well. The only thing I don't miss about these old LCD's is the burn ins that majority of the used S2's have, however this one is minimum. YAY! With that being said, What ROMs do you recommend for this good ol' boy? Leave your comments, questions, what have you......
